Today we want to share about real quality-of-life upgrades come from the things we touch and use every single day.
These are a few everyday items we chose to invest in, because they need to work hard, last long, and feel good to use. 2.5 years in, we can confidently say they are worth it.
First up, hot, warm, room, or cold temperature water at our fingertips is completely non-negotiable for us. Whether it’s making tea, coffee, or quickly preparing meals, having instant access saves time and makes daily routines feel effortless. It’s one of those appliances that once you have it, you can’t imagine going back.
Because it’s a permanent countertop fixture, we also picked something sleek so that it enhances the space.
We really love the look and feel of wood around the house. It brings warmth, texture, and a sense of calm that never goes out of style. We did consider vinyl, it’s all in the range, but in the end, we chose to spend more on tiles with a wood-like finish.
And honestly, it has paid off.
With pets in the house, tiles make a huge difference. They’re easier to clean, far more forgiving with accidents, scratches, and daily wear, and they don’t require the same level of worry or maintenance. On top of that, they feel cooler underfoot, which is such a bonus in Singapore weather.
Our kitchen sink sees nonstop action: cooking, cleaning, rinsing, resetting. We splurged on a solid, well-designed sink and a pull-out mixer that feels sturdy every time you use it.
We love the look of granite sinks, but had initial concerns about maintenance. It turns to be incredibly hardy and easy to upkeep, even with constant daily use. No visible scratches!
The pull-out mixer lets us reach every corner of the sink effortlessly, making cleanup quicker and far less frustrating.
The steel chrome finish also feels more refined and elegant than high-shine looking taps.
Honest thoughts: I generally prefer towel racks (coming from a lazy person who likes to toss clothing articles above head). But our master bathroom is quite tight due to the concealed bathroom fittings, so we chose high-quality hooks instead, and this is where spending more really mattered.
These hooks are solid, well-designed, and actually hold. Not the kind where towels or clothes keep slipping off. 2.5 years in, they haven’t tarnished, loosened, or lost their finish despite daily, heavy use. We feel the difference every single day!
The common thread across all these choices is simple, they’re items we interact with constantly. Splurging doesn’t have to mean excess. Sometimes, it just means choosing durability, thoughtful design, and longevity over replacing things again and again.
And when a household fixture or appliance quietly supports our daily life without asking for attention, that’s when we know they are worth it.
