😭 Our love for gun metal landed us in the "reno regret" club

This is one small reno regret entirely of our own making that came from our love for gun metal finishes when we first saw them. There was a group buy going on at the time and in that excitement, we ended up getting all our toilet accessories from the same supplier 😂 Looking back, we probably would have chosen chrome fittings instead (funnily enough, chrome was slightly cheaper too). We had seen quite a few reno regrets online about black and gold fittings and we thought maybe gun metal would be the safer “middle ground”. Then reality slowly kicked in a few months after moving in. We started noticing signs of wear. HAHAHA turns out we also became part of the “reno regret” category we used to read about. Just in a slightly different shade of it HAHAHA 
About 5 months into living here, water marks became more noticeable and some pieces started showing discolouration and peeling, especially our shower racks. Since they are constantly exposed to water, soap residue and daily friction from moving bottles around, they naturally showed signs of wear much earlier than the other accessories. Living in Singapore’s humid climate does not help. 
In hindsight, we focused a little too much on aesthetics. If we were to renovate again, we might choose chrome fittings instead as they are easier to maintain and more forgiving with water marks, like how our parents’ bathrooms that are >15 plus years old are still going strong. This is not to discourage anyone from choosing gun metal. We simply believe it is helpful to share the reality of living with it. Has anyone here had gun metal fittings for a few years? How have yours held up? Ours seem to have started a slow transformation into chrome 😂 Having said so, we would highly recommend to get a shower mixer with the wash leg feature haha, it is so handy if you need it to wash leg or fill buckets!
