Hello! Back to share more about our kitchen, where we spent the most time thinking over the design and how we wanted it to be. We had a few key points that we wanted for the space:
1) Sufficient countertop space
2) An island
3) A dry pantry
This was one of the designs proposed by the first ID we met, where we originally wanted to swop the first bedroom with the living room so we could have a longer living/dining area. We also toyed with the idea of having a semi closed kitchen (hence the swing door and glass panels drawn at the island counter).
Similar idea here suggested by another ID, with a lot of countertop space, but without the semi closed kitchen concept. While there was a lot of countertop space, there wasn’t a dedicated dry pantry area.
This was the layout we eventually went with, that was able to meet our needs. Sufficient countertop space for our various appliances, and enough prep space when we cook too. The placement of the sink beside the hood felt more natural as well, since usually items washed are being moved from the sink to near the hood.
Will be sharing more about our kitchen dimensions and how it works for us in another post!
