We’re finally beginning our journey of sharing the materials we’ve been loving — each one thoughtfully chosen and curated for our home. ✨
This particular tile has been a challenge to find (and we’ve looked everywhere!), but its texture and tone felt too perfect to give up on. We’ll keep you guys posted on which one makes it into our sunroom — it’s going to be a special space, and we want every detail to feel just right.
Stay tuned as we slowly piece our little world together, one material at a time. 🏡
Marble has such a timeless way of breathing life and character into a space. For our dining room’s dry pantry area, we’re selecting green marble as a statement accent — something that catches the light and gives the eyes a gentle splash of color.
It’s a bold yet grounding choice, and we love how it instantly adds depth and warmth to the room. Sometimes all it takes is one material to set the entire tone.
Does it have to be marble though? No. Pretty sure we’ll be able to find a great material alternative.
As beautiful as marble is, it’s also a porous material and not as hardy as others. Because of that, we’re being careful to use it in a lower-traffic area — where it can shine without worry.
We’re also exploring sintered stone — something dramatic in grey with those soft, marble-like veins that bring quiet luxury without the worry of maintenance. It’s been sitting on our drawing board for a while now, and we’re leaning toward a bold, stormy tone… though who knows, that might still change!
That’s the fun part of the process — watching ideas evolve as we start seeing how each piece speaks to the next. For now, we’re just enjoying the hunt for that perfect slab.
The star of my heart is black timber — be it laminate or real wood. This classic material perfectly emulates the look and feel we’re going for.
We know black timber might sound a little daring, maybe even jarring to some, but we’re firm in our love for it. There’s something striking about that jet-black tone standing bold against clean white walls — a contrast that feels both modern and timeless. It’s dramatic, grounding, and effortlessly elegant, exactly the balance we want our home to carry.
And then there’s walnut — you really can’t go wrong with it. We thought long and hard about whether to match the rest of the house, but in the end, black felt a little too strong for our kitchen. It’s a smaller space, and while the darker tone ties into our overall theme, we didn’t want it to feel too heavy or overly styled.
So, we’re going with a warm brown instead — something classic, easy on the eyes, and timeless. Walnut has that perfect balance: elegant, inviting, and a finish that will never go out of style.
