the original entrance to our place. When viewing the unit, I already had plans in my mind to hack the wall down. To me, the wall made the corridor too long and too dark and the space was dead space as there is no function. What's behind the wall? It's the maid's toilet and the utility room. This took up alot of the floor space that we felt could be better utilised especially in the living area.

The plan is to make the space near the entrance functional but still aesthetic. The entranceway carpentry is a big one. We merged the shoe cabinet, storage space and niche areas to hold our keys etc and it wraps around to the dining area as well.

As we do not have a maid, our plan was to seal up the 5th toilet and make the utility area smaller so that the additional space can extend our living room. we hacked the wall and the toilet and thats is where....

We hit our first Reno snag after hacking. After hacking the false ceiling, we realised that the big fat toilet pipes were sitting smack there so the plan of having a uniform false ceiling was thrown out of the works. Thank goodness that area was our dining area and Id came up with a curved drop down false ceiling and the end result looked like we planned it all along

this was the original condition of our main door. it was originally glossy but after the years, the paint was peeling and the sheen was gone. due to management's rules, we are not able to change the door so had to make do with this door. As this is the first thing that our visitors see, we need to make this door presentable.

we chose to repaint the door in a matte finish and it definitely was a big difference as compared to the old door!

we also added the door closer for the door as the old one had none and it always slams loudly. The door closer regulates the speed and action of the door which is important in a family of kids. would not want the door to slam shut on them causing hurt. the speed and action can easily be adjusted manually until you find a speed suitable for the family.

we kept the entranceway relatively bare of furnishings as we want the illusion of space and not clutter the walkway. Just our customised clock hangs on the wall.
