Renovation often comes with unexpected detours—and this is one we’re especially happy with. • Midway through the reno, we decided to remove the yard door to open up the space. Our contractor left a gap so the louvre windows could still open, but that also meant the upper cabinet had to be shorter than the base cabinet—posing a challenge for terminating the KompacPlus backsplash cleanly. • As a solution, we designed a custom open shelf facing the service yard. It not only resolved the mismatch but turned into a practical nook for our daily cleaning supplies—within easy reach, yet hidden from view in the main living area. One of those little tweaks that turned out better than expected.
