Not all good things have to be expensive - in this post, we're sharing some of our favourite under $10, but super useful items we've accumulated since we started living in our house
The iKEA website shows these Drona boxes as complementary for the Billy Bookcase, but we found out they fit pretty well on the Baggebo shelves too!
And they're not just for storing books and stationery - we use them to sort out our socks so we can grab them conveniently on our way out. They come in sets of three, so that's one for Duck's socks (all very cute and colourful), one for Frog's socks (the boring ones) and one for our stash of recyclable shopping bags (so we always remember to bring one along when we're heading out)
We got this mini yoga mat from Taobao - it's anti slip and also acts as a mat for us to leave our weights (yes we're in our exercise era!) so they don't accidentally damage the floor.
Duck has a standing desk too, and if you've ever taken a long zoom call standing up, you'll know that the soles of your feet can start hurting after a while! (Or are we just getting old....)
So this mat is also great to stand on while she's working at her standing desk - it's quite thick so it provides pretty good cushioning, and it's much cheaper than getting a dedicated standing mat.
We don't know how you've been storing your butter, but if you haven't been using a butter box, YOU ARE MISSING OUT!
This box doesn't just store butter - it even has the little grooves for you to pre slice your butter so you don't have to hack through the slab like an hangry caveman whenever you want some butter.
(That was Duck a few years ago because she didn't know butter boxes existed)
We usually pre-slice a few slices and slide in a couple of pieces of baking paper into the gaps, so we can get kaya-toast standard butter slices by just holding on to the baking paper - say goodbye to oily and buttery fingers!
Also another kitchen thing - we've discovered condiment bottles with BUILT IN SPOONS and now we cannot go back :)
This container is airtight (yes there is a legit rubber seal), comes with a spoon built into the top cover and has a fixed "spoon size" of 2g per spoonful! This is very useful when Duck is cooking because uh... how would i ever be bothered to precisely measure what is 2g of sugar/salt HAHA.
Also, the spoon RETRACTS into the lid and can be extended downwards only when you want to scoop stuff! This means you don't have sugar/salt/other condiments all stuck to the handle of your spoon :)
