Welcome back to JJ Home 🏠 today’s post is a lil different as we share about things to take note of while living with a furry buddy 🐶 meet Benji - our 8 year old mixed Japanese Spitz & Pomeranian! He’s a family doggo who does staycations at our place (I’m cuddling him as I type this ☺️)
Holla in the comments if you also have a pet & read on if you’re thinking to get one~
1. Meals & Water Station
We have a simple water bowl to ensure he always has access to fresh water 💦
Benji has 2 meals a day - morning (7+am) & evening (6-7pm). It consists of steamed broccoli 🥦, carrots 🥕, pumpkin 🎃 & pork! We usually add meal toppers to give him more rounded nutrients too! I feel that he eats better than me some days HAHAHA
2. Potty Station
Benji gets to walk twice a day so he’ll usually do his pee & poo then. During the day, we have pee pads in our common toilet when he wants to use it! And we’ll usually wipe him down with wet tissues after :)
We used to have a pee-tray but he doesn’t like using it 💩
3. Shower
Some prefer monthly or weekly grooming to avoid the hassle! We go to the groomers for Benji’s full grooming every 2 months since they’ll know best to dematt his double coat, tidy his paw pads & clean his ears etc! He gets a shower every week (can you tell he hates pom pom time? 🫧)
3. Blow Dry After Shower
After shampoo and conditioner, we will blow-dry & comb him! The whole shower process takes about 1-2hours 😱 time & commitment is super important if you want to have a pet 🐱🐶🦜
On top of spending on necessities like food, treats & supplies, you also have to cater for annual vaccinations & impromptu vet visits! Oh, and more regular home cleaning since the fur situation will be everywhere! 🤭
I hope this post gave you some context if you’re planning to have a pet in future 🥰 we absolutely love having Benji with us so if you want to see more of him, you can follow IG @benjibeartales & @jjhomestories 🦴✨
