Welcome to our dining room! It’s more of an area rather than a room haha. We actually only use our dining table when we have guests over because usually we prefer eating at our coffee table and sitting on the floor while watching Netflix.🤭 This area of our home has also seen quite a few changes in our 9 years here. We’re so lucky and thankful that the husband’s uncle is a handyman. If we couldn’t DIY certain things, we got him to help us whenever we needed to make changes around the house. The light and mirror you see here were all fixed up by him! Initially when we got our place, the first set of furnitures were actually hand-me-downs as we were broke from making the biggest purchase of our lives. This was before we started our own business and the mister was in a low paying job while I was still an undergrad uni student. Scroll through to see the before look of this area.😆 So when we finally got around to doing up our place properly, it took a while for us (me) to decide the look we wanted to go for. We also changed one item at a time so that we would not be overwhelmed financially. Every time we wanted to change furnitures, we would always sell our old ones on carousell to reduce waste before making new purchases. It helped that we got loose furniture so it made changing things around the house easier. We changed things around due to changing trends or to figure out what worked for us and didn’t. This helped to keep our costs super minimal, especially when we were making changes every few weeks to months. We chose this 1.8m long dining table as we love to host often and we can fit up to 8 people around the whole table when we pull it away from the wall. Some close up of the textures. Another reason why we chose this table was because of the edges. It looks like a full slab of wood but without the hefty price of one. Plus we got it on sale, so score!!!🥹 Love that the legs of the table are wooden as well. Lo and behold, our “toilet bowl” chair as the husband likes to call it hahaha. We changed our dining chairs thrice before deciding on this (the husband had no choice) because of the aesthetics. It’s comfier than it looks and it’s always the first thing people talk about when they come to our place because comfort is not the first thing you think of when you see this chair. Bonus point that our cats love this chair too and it doubles as their scratching post. Thankfully the boucle fabric makes it hard to see their scratch marks. Intermission photo with Cai Tou because she wanted to be in the shot. You can see the gap in the seat of the chair is quite large which is why the husband gave it the nickname that he gave. The mirror adds depth to the dining area and makes it appear bigger. Took out the fancy tableware for photos. Usually only use them on special occasions.😂 Intermission photo of Cai Png because he also wanted to be in the shoot. View when lit at night. We chose warm lighting to make the place cosier and less harsh. Old layout with old hand-me-down expendable table from ikea that we sold off on carousell before getting the Kai dining table from HipVan. Also removed the wall shelf and changed the wall mirror to change the entire vibe of the place. Now this is our favourite selfie spot.❤️ Realised we came such a long way while writing this post.🥹 To all homeowners out there who are stressed on purchasing all furnitures in one go, you don’t have to. Do things at your own pace or whenever feels comfortable for you. Also to homeowners out there who wants to make changes around the house but are overwhelmed and unsure where to start, start small and go slow. You’ll be surprised how small little changes add up bit by bit. It’s your home and you do you! Hope this has been helpful one way or another hehe.🫶🏻 Bonus photo of the fur children in their Halloween costume for home shoot.🤭 Thanks for scrolling through!
