DINKWAD life in our cozy 4-room BTO
Our Dining Room: A curvaceous gathering space 🍽️
7476
Hello again! In this post we’re looking at our dining room 🍽️ BTO dining spaces aren’t super big so we aimed to make the most of our little space — using curves! The dining room is also meant to be a lively conversation spot and there are several elements here that are conversation starters for our home. Curves #1: Our pill-shaped dining table Custom-made from Taobao, our full wood 1.8m dining table can easily sit up to 8 pax for a full table. Customising this table was necessary because of our limited space, and we wanted to ensure there was enough walking area at the front and back of the table. We also didn’t want the usual rectangular table so having a pill shaped one was a good option for us! Another featured curve here is the Japanese themed downlights above our dining table! Another space-saving feature is having a bench at the side of the table facing the coffee corner instead of chairs, which take up more room. Curves #2: Our curved niche In our initial design this spot next to the fridge was just a right angled structural wall which we can’t hack. Our ID gave us the idea of turning it into a curved niche to soften the space, while also catering for some display shelves. Now we love this curated spot with our little blind boxes and small projects which add character to our home, and our guests can also take their time to browse through the displayed items. Curves #3: Our coffee corner! This is one of my favourite spots in the house and definitely one of the most used spaces every morning. Our Rocket Appartamento TCA coffee machine is a sight to behold, with the bronze accents matching our mosaic tiles and terracotta grout at the back. Curves here include the curved mosaic wall, the wall lamp and the curved countertop and open shelves at the end of the counter space. And that’s it for our dining room! We love how this is the center for all our meals and conversations big and small, and the memories we have been making here. See you in the next one!
