Our Cozy Area: 3 Ways Comfort Meets the Ground

Hello, we are KH & MS from @hwashan_ and we appreciate your time here with us! Our communal space has seen quite a transformation over the past year. 
Initially, it was a small, cozy area right by the living room window, with just a few pieces of furniture. As time went on, we added more elements and thoughtfully arranged them to create our perfect floor-sitting retreat. This shot is from our first month, and it’s amazing to see how much our cozy area has expanded since then. 
We’ve embraced the floor-sitting trend wholeheartedly, and we have no regrets. :D 
Our cozy area now features three main seats, each with its own special place. First up is our floor sofa from Nine.N. It’s my ultimate go-to for working, reading, and journaling. The cushioning and size make it perfect for lounging comfortably. Next, we have a favorite beanbag from my parents’ home. It’s ideal for chilling out and catching up with family and friends. The beanbag adds a relaxed, playful touch to our space. 
Finally, there’s an extra dining bench from Castlery that we’ve repurposed. It serves a dual purpose: it provides additional seating when needed and doubles as a handy tabletop space. Whether we’re using it for extra seating during gatherings or as a surface for snacks and drinks, it fits seamlessly into our floor-friendly theme. Not to forget our rug! It seamlessly unites these different seating areas, enhancing the overall cohesiveness and inviting ambiance of the space. I especially love how the rug incorporates KH’s favorite blue and my favorite pink, adding a personal touch and unifying the entire area. 
And let’s not forget the coffee trolley, which is perfectly visible from our cozy area. We love making drinks here and sharing our coffee-making adventures with guests. It is our own little home cafe, a space we’re building towards where we can enjoy our favorite brews and great company. 
Designing this space was all about comfort and function. We chose pieces that not only look great together but also offer versatility. By picking items that serve different purposes, we’ve created a cozy area that’s both stylish and practical. For anyone dreaming of their own cozy area, here’s some friendly advice: 1) Get Comfy: Pick seating that’s super soft and comfy. Floor sofas and beanbags are perfect for those laid-back vibes. 2) Cozy Up with Textiles: Add throw blankets and cushions to up the warmth and style. They’re perfect for making your space even more inviting. 3) Personalize It: Choose pieces that truly reflect your personality and style. A space that feels like you will always be the most welcoming. If we could change anything, we might add a few more decorative touches or a small side table for convenience. But overall, we’re thrilled with how our cozy area has turned out and how it’s become our favorite spot to unwind and enjoy a good cup of coffee. Thanks for checking out our floor-sitting haven!
