In our most recent home tour, we had shared a little about how our guest room has evolved over the course of the year. One of our favourite features is the gallery wall that we had curated and installed on our own. N is a car enthusiast and as a couple, we enjoy travelling together and collecting knick knacks from our adventures. So naturally, our gallery wall had to be car and travel themed. Today's post takes a closer look at a few noteworthy pieces, with some tips on how to put together your own!
Once we had collected our desired number of art, including prints, textiles, and photographs, we then planned the layout of the wall on paper. Next was a trip to Ikea to purchase our frames. We decided to mix and match frames of various sizes and designs, as long as they were black or silver. This creates some visual interest without looking disorganised.
To display some of N's toy car collection, we 3D printed a structure that could be used together with an Ikea frame. This opened up the opportunity to showcase them in a more unique format. We believe this same idea can be used with displaying other collectibles too!
Our gallery wall flows from one end of the room to the other, where we have set up N's racing simulator. We carried these posters back from the Porsche museum during our honeymoon to Europe. As such they're both of sentimental value and carry some of our aspirations as well.
In the same way, when creating a gallery wall, we recommend selecting pieces that are meaningful and inspire you!
