Hello everyone! This was probably one of our biggest reno regrets, but thankfully there was a workaround. It was not a perfect solution, but we were really grateful there was one!! π₯Ή

When planning our carpentry, we focused on making sure the oven would fit, but completely overlooked its ventilation clearance requirements. We did not realise our oven model required AT LEAST 10cm of top clearance and that it actually vents steam from the top. Looking back, we felt a bit silly because we genuinely had no idea it emits steam on top when we bought it π With only 5cm of clearance, there simply was not enough room for the heat and steam to escape properly.
With so many reno decisions happening at once, this was one small detail that unfortunately slipped past us. It was only after we started using the oven regularly that we realised something was not right.
The area around the oven became extremely hot. It would occasionally trigger overheating and high temperature warnings and we had to wait for it to cool down before we could use it again.

We even turned our kitchen corner fan to the highest speed, hoping to help dissipate the heat π We were honestly quite desperate because we really wanted to use the oven we had spent so much time choosing!!! We really wanted to make the most of what we already had.
Maybe this is something many of you already know, but with so many things to look out for, little details like this can be easy to miss. Hopefully this serves as a timely reminder for anyone who is still planning their kitchen carpentry measurements π
