When it comes to bathroom design, ease of cleaning is a top priority for us!
For our master bathroom, all bathroom fittings are concealed, leaving only clean, uninterrupted surfaces on display with no exposed pipings to collect dust or water stains.
We also went with a wall-hung WC. With nothing touching the floor, there’s no messy base to scrub around, and of course no exposed tank to wipe down.
We think that these choices deliver a clean luxurious aesthetic that looks polished, while staying hygienic and incredibly easy to maintain.
This little detail makes a big difference. The gentle slope down into the shower replaces the traditional step-down, not only making it easier to clean, but also safer to use. There are fewer corners for grime to collect, and there’s no edge to scrub, or stub your toe on!
Because we chose concealed bathroom fittings, the shower wall had to be pushed out, which ate into the floor trap area.
Cutting a hole for the floor trap would’ve meant an awkward “mouse hole” situation, and let’s be honest, a nightmare to clean. Instead, our ID opened it up completely and designed the wall to float, with a subtle “leg” supporting one side. It keeps drainage clear, looks intentional, and most importantly, makes cleaning simple with no tight or hard to reach areas.
By having a wall-mounted tap, there are fewer places for water marks and soap residue to collect. Combined with an undermount sink, cleaning the vanity surface is literally a single swipe!
2.5 years in, we are still in love with the understated look of this tap.
And this is our common bathroom! The niches on the shower wall does a lot of heavy lifting.
It holds all our heavy bottles without taking up any extra space, keeping the shower area clean and uncluttered. We opted for such niches for both bathrooms! No awkward edges or spots to work around compared to ledges or racks.
Quick tip: remember to add a very slight gradient to the niche so water can drain properly!
Moving on to the dry area of the common bathroom.
While the WC here isn’t wall-hung like our master bathroom, we picked a one-piece WC instead. A one-piece design has the tank and bowl molded together as a single unit, so there are no joints or seams where dust and water marks tend to collect.
Bathrooms are spaces we use every day, and with Singapore’s high humidity, they really get put to the test. Designing with easy cleaning in mind means spending less time scrubbing, fewer hard-to-reach spots to worry about, and a bathroom that stays fresh and comfortable even with daily use 🫧
