When we first moved in, I had this blank wall — and my initial instinct was to keep it completely flush, clean and simple. Shelving wasn’t even a consideration at first.
But as the renovation progressed, I started to feel that leaving it bare might be a missed opportunity. I had a few little collectibles I wanted to display, and it felt like a waste not to give them a home.
My designer initially proposed an arched shelving nook — beautiful, but arches have become quite common lately. So I asked, “Why not go organic instead?” He was open to the idea, and I ended up sketching over his drawing, referencing something I’d seen on Pinterest. I wasn’t sure if it would work, especially since organic shapes like this aren’t something you see often in homes around here.
But the result? I completely fell in love with it. It now feels like the perfect continuation of our home’s look — a soft blend of wabi-sabi, natural beige tones, and subtle curves. It’s functional, unique, and effortlessly blends into our space.
Can’t wait to share more behind the thought process and details soon. Hope this sparks a little idea for anyone staring at their own bare walls right now.
