This was the first iteration, because if I live alone then I don’t need a full dining table, right?
Not quite. I found that this didn’t work because:
1. Convertible dining tables are a hassle. You either keep it folded and use the coffee tables instead, or you unfold it and keep it out the whole time.
2. I am not a couch person. Whenever I’m home, I’m at the dining table. I’m on a chair. Or lying in bed. But I’m seldom on the couch. Especially since my home doesn’t even have a TV!
3. The low tables weren’t great when I had a soupy meal or when I had guests over.
I hadn’t changed the set up yet, but I added this gallery wall to add more personality and colour to the space. I found it added a lot of depth to the space!
White walls are so plain in my home, especially with the high ceilings, so filling it was great.
Then came texture!
This felt so complete. The rugs, the cabinet at an angle for interest but also function (I had one table panel out most times).
I had this for the longest time, but ended up switching the cabinet to a rectangular table which was so much more functional for hosting.
Then, I found the couch still underused so I sold it and made my living room a dining room instead.
Decided everything felt too square so I swapped the rectangle table for the round one I currently have (for free!).
