  • Mini Entryway.. with a Full-Height Shoe Cabinet?! 😱
In this post, we share more on our tiny but mighty entryway, it will be more on some design choices and what we did to hide the bomb shelter and provide ourselves with full-height cabinets for our shoes! Like many other newer BTOs, entryways are just a small part of the house, and the door's orientation would make all the difference. Thankfully the layout we chose had the doors facing the bomb shelter (common to Chinese belief, the main door should never face directly to the window) so even though we aren't strict believers, it's just one of those things you know?

The original door swing arm didn't allow the door to stay open, so the first thing we did after getting the keys was to replace it with a much sleeker slide arm. The installation took less than an hour and has been working perfectly for over a year. We also prefer a keyless experience, so we upgraded our main door locks to the Aqara A100. It has an impressive battery life of 2 years, compared to more common brands that need a change as early as 6 months. Since moving in mid-last year, the battery life is still at 50%!

To blend the entrance with the living area, we designed a curve that softens the distinction between the two spaces, making the entire area feel larger and more cohesive.

Though the space is small, careful planning has paid off. With plenty of unused cabinet space still available and unsightly elements like the bomb shelter door cleverly hidden, coming home is always a pleasant experience.
