Hello everyone!
We are back for Season 10 of Communa, a little belated this time round as we have been hustling hard with work. For Season 10's first post - let's talk about colors, materials and textures!
Here you see a real snapshot of our living room featuring a few of our favourite materials to create that soft, warm layers which is perfect for a cosy, restful lounging space which is well-loved by our friends and family!
✨ Our main material/texture here is boucle which you can see from the poofs, sofa and cushions. We love the look and feel of boucle as they are often soft to touch, cushiony yet tactile which is perfect for lounging.
✨ This is heavily accented by our taupe waffle knit throw which enhances the cosy atmosphere with its soft, quilted appearance. Best part is - it is not too thick for SG's weather!
✨ Lastly, our carpet has a woven geometric pattern which adds another layer of comfort underfoot. Everyone loves a comfort piece in the living area!
Moving on to our selection of table tops and laminates. To create that soft cosy vibes in our house - we decided on a blend of solid colors and wood laminates~
👉 Our primary laminate is Beige Linen which gives off the creamy look of our house and hence creme haus! We chose solid laminates as it allows us to play with fabric textures as accents like our living area.
👉 Light loft birch laminate which is woody, is our secondary laminate. We chose a wood laminate with lesser grains to add variation and texture without being overwhelming.
👉 Khaki laminate is mostly used in our master bedroom as we wanted something warmer in our master bedroom which is perfect when we are winding down!
👉 Lastly, we opted for a solid color sintered stone tabletop for our counter - we can't recall the color but we chose sintered as it is easy to maintain and can tolerate high heat!
Here's a clear snapshot of how our materials and their color scheme falls together in place!
Our backsplash is also sintered - as we prefer the look of it over glass or tiles. It helps that we can easily wipe down any cooking splatters or mess as well.
Paints! Something that we honestly struggled with! How are there so many shades of BEIGE!!!!
From left to right from Nippon: Nature Walk > Soft Flutter > Plaster White.
Tips on testing paint:
1. Do go over a few coats and label them!
2. Leave the paint to dry for at least 2 hours so that you can see them in their true colors.
3. Try to capture them in different times of the day: - in daylight and under lights.
We eventually settled on Soft Flutter in the middle and Plaster White as our accent color in the MBR.
Even choosing curtains wasn't easy either! After visiting a few curtain stores, we were very certain that we wanted curtains that were linen looking to evoke softness.
Tip to help with decision making is to bring your laminate samples along! It helps in visualisation.
Our Palm curtains from Aratamete in the sun looks amazing, you can see the finer details of the curtain which we really love. 💗💗

That's all for today's post! We hope you guys enjoyed this deepdive of the colors, materials and textures that we have chosen for our cosy space.
