our laundry area sits right beside the dining space, so it was important that it didn’t feel overly utilitarian. instead of hiding it away completely, we treated it as part of the daily living zone.
the washer and dryer are built into full-height cabinetry, keeping everything visually contained. once the doors are closed, the space reads more like storage than a laundry corner, which helps the dining area feel uninterrupted.
lighting plays a big role here. warm, even lighting softens the cabinetry and shelves, making the area feel intentional rather than purely functional. this keeps the transition between dining and laundry seamless, especially during the evenings.
open shelving was kept minimal and styled lightly. a few plants, small decor pieces, and soft textures help balance out the appliances without turning the shelves into a display wall. everything here is easy to move or remove, which makes cleaning and maintenance simple.
by keeping colours neutral and finishes consistent, the laundry blends naturally into the dining space. nothing competes for attention, and the area stays practical without feeling out of place.
it’s not a space designed to be hidden — just one designed to sit quietly and do its job.
