Appliances we’re loving thus far:
🎶 Denon Soundbar DHT S517 At first we thought we could live without a soundbar… until Wayne insisted it was essential. We looked at JBL (didn’t love the look), Sonos (a little pricey), and finally landed on this Denon beauty. Retail was $849, but with a $200 discount, it came to $649 — right in budget. With Dolby Atmos, it instantly turned our TV into a mini home theatre. Perfect for our Suits, HIMYM, and Taylor Swift nights.
🍵 Timemore Kettle (for matcha!)
This was a thoughtful housewarming gift from my matcha-and-hojicha buddy. The Timemore kettle is known for its temperature precision (±1 °C), fast heating, and gooseneck spout — all perfect for making matcha at the optimal 60–80 °C range to preserve flavour and nutrients. A sleek addition to our daily tea ritual.
🔪 SMEG Knife Block Set We snagged this at SMEG’s Warehouse Sale back in May and only opened it once we moved into olive! Originally priced at $698, we scored it at $298 — such a steal.
The set comes with six high-quality stainless steel knives: a vegetable knife (8 cm), multipurpose knife (13 cm), meat knife (15 cm), Santoku (18 cm), bread knife (19 cm), and the all-rounder chef’s knife (19 cm).
Truthfully, I got it for the aesthetics (since I didn’t cook at all before moving in 😅) but Wayne, who’s now the main cook, loves it. Even my mother-in-law, who cooks daily, gave it her stamp of approval — without knowing the price, of course!
🧺 SMEG Washer & Dryer We originally bought an LG front-load washer-dryer, but at the warehouse sale spotted this last display unit for just $300 — too good to pass up.
It’s been such a lifesaver, especially the dryer function. A regular cycle takes about an hour, leaving clothes ~80% dry and crisp when taken out. Since our home doesn’t get direct sunlight, the built-in dryer is a must. Plus, being a 2-in-1, it saves precious space.
