Welcome to the home of non-collectibles.
Here's what to do when you belong to a household of no collectibles, yet you still want an aesthetically pleasing space. How about hanging a cotton display piece in a space in your kitchen? Covering up the glass and at the same time, hiding the trays that you keep in the oven. It keeps the kitchen looking neat and clean! But also at the same time, gives some feel.
Having a hanging open shelf just to block the ending of the backsplash means it cannot be left empty. I was hesitant over this initially because open shelf means a magnet for dust. Yet, this is the cheaper option over having top carpentry.
You may choose to display your bowl/plate collection or any of your quirky toy collection. Here, I placed a sake gifted to me and eventually turned display piece. Also, salt/pepper grinders that were bought long ago.
On the other side of the open shelf in the kitchen holds my alcohol bottles which are pretty enough to showcase. This space has never-ending options to explore!
Something simple to cover up the empty spalces on the TV console. A vase and simple display floral diffuser sticks which now only act as display pieces. Also, an old gIKEA bell jar which I used long ago for wedding setups, in which I store my candles.
Did you realise that these are used to cover up my WiFi router? Now, it's not an eyesore!
Having one of these wooden framed worded quotes also brings out the Japandi feels.
On my half height wall, I chose to keep it simple and only put my candle warmer which I switch on daily. To hide the wires, I placed a framed calligraphy piece which twas gifted to me long ago.
Of course with aesthetics, comes practicality too. A simple linen tissue cover to hide the colourful tissue pack will do the job.
Keeping the dry pantry clean (and without coffee machine yet). Just a simple wooden frame quote and some light display will do. Placing my portable speaker here helps echo the sound to all over the house if needed.
Don't forget your bombshelter door especially when you keep it exposed. It has the potential go act as a display piece as well! Instead of putting magnetic racks to put necessary items, you can choose to put up meaningful postcards, photos or writings!
There are many other options displaying other items if you belong to a non-collectible household. Keeping the amount of display minimal yet able to bring out the theme of the house is the essence to this post. Use the items that bring meaning to you and give your home your own touch!
