Kitchen Cabinetry: Shaker Panels & Concrete Sink Base

When planning our kitchen, we wanted the cabinetry to be durable, thoughtfully organized, and visually cohesive with the rest of the space. We leaned into our modern farmhouse aesthetic, combining clean lines with warmer, classic details. 
A closer look at the cabinet doors reveals the beauty of simplicity. The shaker profile is understated but intentional, and it adds to the overall farmhouse vibe we wanted for the kitchen. 
We paired the cabinets with ceramic knob handles to introduce a softer, slightly vintage touch. This small detail adds character and creates a gentle contrast against the clean, structured panels. 
One of the most important decisions we made was building a concrete base under the sink instead of using standard carpentry. This creates a sturdy, water-resistant foundation that won’t warp or deteriorate if there are leaks over time. 
Behind these shaker panels under the sink, we focused on practical organization. Tiered racks and bins help keep everything visible and within reach, so cleaning supplies and everyday items stay neat without effort. 
In this photo, you’d see that there is a side cut-out opening in the concrete base so the water source can be linked to the dishwasher next to it. It is a small but important detail that keeps everything functional while maintaining a clean and seamless setup. The concrete base also makes maintenance simple. Any spills or leaks can be wiped away easily, with no concern about long-term damage to the structure. 
To complete the look, we selected antique brass handles for the rest of the kitchen drawer carpentry. They bring a bit of warmth and contrast, and tie in nicely with the ceramic knobs without feeling too matchy. It’s a small detail, but it helps pull everything together in a subtle way.
