Hello everyone! Welcome to the kitchen edit :-) The island is part of our kitchen too! One side is hollow for comfortable seating and the other side (facing kitchen) has shallow drawers for cutlery, ziplock bags etc. 
A closer look into our kitchen. We have large sliding doors (trackless) which keep the smells at bay when we partake in serious cooking. The cooking hood is from Fujioh and functions by catching and channeling oil into a small trough which can be emptied periodically. There is no need for charcoal filters. 
Perhaps the most important appliance in our home lives in our kitchen. We don’t know what we’d do without our robovacuum! This guy cleans 3h per day and works harder than us (probably). We connected our robovacuum directly to the pipes so we never have to do a water change. 
This is also my coffee and tea corner. As someone who can’t live without caffeine, this is essential. 
Our washing machine is in the service yard. We’ve also installed a drying rack and have a dehumidifier in there to boot. 
Our island is where we have our meals when it’s just the two of us :-)
