Hi everyone! Let us show you our bathrooms :-)
This is the master bathroom, which has a massive mirror. The mirror is from Taobao and has tricoloured LED lighting. There was also an option for defogging in the product listing but we did not opt for it (because we could simply open the bathroom window and the mirror will defog immediately given the humidity in Singapore).
We could not find a mirror of this size that was readily available for purchase in Singapore. It seemed like anything larger than a vanity mirror either had no additional functions (such as no lighting options) or had no design element. After looking around for quite some time, we figured we could either go for a custom mirror (very expensive) or try our luck with Taobao. Obviously, we went for the latter.
This Taobao seller is quite facilitative — they were fine to help us custom the shape of the mirror without extra cost. Their standard mirror had the pointy side on the right but we wanted it on the left, and they did that for us.
A major pain point with this mirror was shipping. The first time this was shipped to us, it broke despite being packaged well. It comes packed in a layer of styrofoam within a paper box, which we additionally paid to crate in a wooden frame. The reason the mirror cracked was because it was so heavy that the sides pierced through the styrofoam and hit the side of the box during the shipping process. Taobao’s default forwarder (CAINIAO) does not guarantee the condition of the goods during the overseas leg of the shipping process, so we took the risk of loss.
That said, because it was so cheap, we took a chance and re-ordered this, asking that the seller cushion the sides in additional styrofoam and cardboard.
The next best thing about our master bathroom is the gigantic sink. A large sink was one of my must-haves for our new home, because I was sick of water spilling over the edges and onto the countertop when I washed my face with smaller sinks. This size is excellent and our countertop almost never gets wet.
Look at how the warm LED light catches on our feature wall!
We picked up these tiles from Hafary. They come in fully plain tiles as well as with these finger-shaped indents. Our designer chose a mix and laid them out (with calculated randomness) for our feature wall.
Our orange pendant light is a spot of colour in our otherwise dark bathroom. We found that a lot of light shops in Singapore and JB had repetitive designs and turned to Taobao for more interesting looks.
We also picked up stainless steel hooks from Taobao, which fit neatly over our shower stall glass. They look so chic and minimal.
This is our guest bathroom! It is tiled in light grey, but has various bulbous elements (sink, light, egg-shaped mirror) to make it look more interesting.
The mirror is from the same Taobao store as the master bathroom mirror.
We installed a built-in cabinet under the sink for easy storage of toilet paper, soap, brushes etc.
