A rundown of all the bins we have in our place :-) (Don’t scroll away if you’re thinking of getting a simplehuman trash can — I’m here to offer you a dupe) First off, we have simple lidless bins in our bedroom and study for throwing items like cotton face pads, tissue paper, scrap paper etc. 
I am very happy with our kitchen bin — I thought this was a great find for our countertop and the perfect size for throwing fruit peels, scrap ingredients, coffee grounds etc. We empty this out after each cooking session! The lid can be opened two ways depending on which works better for you. Unless we are cooking, we keep this shut so the smells are kept at bay. 
This is our main bin. We deliberated for ages whether to splurge on a simplehuman bin, which is exorbitant but has features like soft closing and is extremely solid. I chanced upon this dupe from BOBO on Taobao for only $80 and we’ve never looked back. This bin also has soft closure and it came with months of supply of garbage bags! It’s also easy to use (step!), has a switch which can be toggled to keep it open, and is a great size. I can also always stock up on the BOBO garbage bags which are super affordable on Taobao. This is not sponsored in any way, I’m just glad I didn’t splurge on a simplehuman trash can 😂 A receptacle for trash should not cost an arm and a leg.
