our entryway opens straight into the living area, so we kept this part of the home intentionally open from the beginning. instead of filling the middle with furniture, the space was left empty to keep movement easy and the overall layout calm.
the massage chair sits along the side rather than in the centre. placing it against the wall keeps the walkway clear and allows the entryway to function without becoming a visual stop or feeling crowded.
over time, the empty middle space naturally became a pet zone. as the cats settled in, they started using this area to play, rest, and move between rooms. because the space was left unassigned to begin with, this shift didn’t require any rearranging or additional furniture.
storage remains built-in and low-profile, keeping everyday items out of sight, while lighting stays soft and even so the entryway blends quietly into the living space. nothing here is meant to stand out on its own.
what started as an intentionally empty area evolved into a shared pet zone simply because there was room for it. leaving space unplanned turned out to be one of the most practical decisions we made.
