Hello! Here to share about our experience furniture shopping in JB and our buys. We made a couple of trips to JB prior to collecting our keys to look around. Window shopping was pretty fun especially when there furniture designs were modern and suited the aesthetics we were going for. Not all shops are made equal though. We only purchased the items in July 2025, about 2 months before our renovations were completed.
We visited quite a number of shops, but for places we would recommend would be the ones above. We didn’t purchase from all of them, but had friends who had bought from the above places too.
We didn’t buy all of our furniture from JB though the savings could be quite substantial, but only bought things that we truly liked!
We would also suggest visiting the Taman Molek area, there are quite a few furniture shops (we saw sofas, dining tables, mattresses) in this area to explore.
Happy to share a Google Maps link of the furniture shops in JB we saved.
Starting off with the furniture piece in our living room, where we spend a little too much time at. We got this sofa from V Haus Living, its a 2 seater but its 1.9m, which is pretty wide for a 2 seater. It wasn’t easy finding a sofa as most we saw were either too small, or too big.
Our measurements had to be really specific as we have a piano right beside the sofa so there needed to be sufficient space for the piano bench. After fitting in all the stuff we had (including allowance for the curtains), we had pretty much maxed out the width of our living room. Hence why we spent such a long time hunting for the one sofa.
What we really like about the sofa is that its an electric recliner, and the ability to customise it. We could choose the colour and fabric, and also the charging ports (we opted for one USB, one type C).
Also from JB is our 1.8m TV console from Ruma Home. We visited Ruma Home a few times on our various JB trips, but only saw this piece on the last visit that we went to make our furniture purchases.
Love the travertine look on this. We went to many places in search for a TV console but could not find anything we fancied. We liked this so much that we were willing to pay for the delivery fees for this one item alone.
Moving on to our dining room purchases, our dining bench and chairs were also from V Haus Living. The colour of this bench was also customizable (between light wood or walnut) and its length fits just nicely for our dining table when its not extended. Our dining table is a separate piece we bought from SG.
Where do I start with this chair! When we were in the planning phases for our renovation, we would take note of things we saw and liked. I came across the light wood version of this chair in a Japanese restaurant when I was dining with a friend. I found the chair really comfy! The food there was good, so I brought the husband there with me on another occasion to have their omakase, and at the same time to let him test out the chair. Turns out he liked it too and I even went to the extent of asking the restaurant where they got their chair from.
The restaurant staff wasn’t too sure so I searched on Taobao, there were similar ones but not the exact piece. As fate would have it, we saw it at V Haus Living, and had to buy it. Thankfully, we were able to customise it to dark wood, and while there was no sample of the chair in their showroom, it turned out better than we expected and was still able to match the other dark wood items in our home.
We also opted for an easy clean fabric instead of cloth. People would tend to shy away from light coloured dining chairs, but didn’t fancy any other colour combination so this had to be it.
It’s been 4 months since moving in and our furniture pieces are still holding up well ✨ Will share more about how we maintain these furniture pieces in a separate post!
