Our dining area is an area we have spent the most time at, as it's also our work area when both of us are home. It's the first area you see as you enter the main door so we try to keep it simple and as open as possible to not crowd the space. We chose faux plant deco so our cat will not chew a life plant.

Our main pieces of furniture will be this 1.5m dining table from IUIGA and we opted for one that seats 6 comfortably. As we don't host often, we did not want an extendable dining table which may be more costly.

We got matching dining chairs on the walkway side so we can lean back comfortably. Definitely no cushions on our dining chairs as we find that hard to maintain as compared to full wood material.

For the wall side, we opted for a matching dining bench which slides under the dining table when we want to clean the area. It also allows us to have the dining table closer to the wall and gives more walkway space.

When planning your dining space, take note if you need socket points for steamboat or grill set up, plus the position to allow ease of using the points. If you are like us, tend to use the dining table as a workspace, this will be good to charge your devices too.

We thought long and hard on whether we need a ceiling fan or should we go for hanging pendant lights above our dining table. Pendant lights won! These are sourced from Taobao and some of our fave purchases there. Ven chose 2 smaller lantern designs to add a design element to the space. These are bright enough to not only light up the dining table, but also are our main light source at night as we prefer less bright lights on most nights.

In case we need brighter lights, we also have 4 downlights just for the dining area. Do take note of your living habits and ensure there's enough light source to brighten up each space if you are someone who needs your place to be bright at night.
