Here are some “inconveniences” we accepting in exchange for the aesthetic that we wanted for our home!
First, blinds and a floor to ceiling open “storage” shelves. These are magnets for dust, but we really loved the vibes of blinds as compared to curtains!
The shelves do collect a lot of dust too but it’s a key feature of the living room that we do not regret! It has been fun shifting around some of our favorite display pieces 😍
Next would be this bar counter! This took up a lot of space in the living room but knew that it was something we really really want!
The storage cabinets behind the bar counter turned out to be really useful as extra storage space! Since this was a house with a storeroom 😜
Thirdly, would be this tartan sofa! It’s probably not a common choice to choose a printed sofa for a living room, since there is the worry that everything looks too messy. However we loveeeee this and have gotten so many compliments on this sofa! Really good buy from taobao and it costs only $300+!
It’s a little hard though so if you’re someone who loves a softer sofa, don’t get this haha
Both the husband and I are big fans of chrome, silver and mirrored surfaces! So we decided to put a gigantic mirror and also a mirror coffee table in our living room! This means that after wiping our table off with a normal table, we would still have to use Windex so all surfaces are shiny 😮💨
Tiring, but worth the look hehe
There are multiple cons about small tiles:
1. Hard to maintain
2. Expensive to install
3. Higher risk of mold
But the moment we started moodboarding for our home, I knew I wanted blue tiles that gives off the vibe of a swimming pool hehe. We place a dehumidifier in this area and no signs of mold yet even after a year!
Last but not least, we decided not to get a TV but a projector instead. This means that we need to have a set up time of about 4 mins because we need to adjust the projector to fit the wall perfectly each time we start the projector.
The projector was one of the best decisions we have made because it has been really really fun watching everything on our 120 inch tv hahaha. We got our projector from Benq!
