Hello everyone! I thought I’d share a little update on our service yard, since we’ve spruced it up quite a bit since moving in.
We upgraded the privacy of the space with @winspiray’s frosted film, and it instantly feels brighter and lighter as compared to our black privacy film from before.
And if you were intrigued by the title, here’s the highlight of today’s post: our trusty IKEA Malm!
We’ve had it in the service yard for almost 3 years now, and it still fits this corner perfectly, giving us both a countertop and much-needed storage for all our barang barang.
What makes it even better is that our new robot vacuum now slots neatly into the space too, making it even easier for us to refill the clean water tank whenever.
Inside the Malm, we’ve organised everything from kitchen towels to laundry bags and the IKEA Skubb boxes fit nicely in the drawers and really help keep things in order.
Our floor rugs are also neatly tucked into the second drawer, especially they are such bulky pieces!
The last drawer is a bit of a mess but that's totally fine because it look unassuming from the outside! But as you can see it stores everything from new kitchen gloves to pails and other bits and pieces.
On the other side sits our washing machine, along with a few loose items that we’ve stacked neatly together. Sticking to a consistent shade really helps the entire space look more cohesive and tidy.
(Fun fact, that grey stool was with us since we moved in 3 years back, and it was actually taken from the Mr's family home too 😅)
We also decided to keep the laundry rack provided by HDB as it was still in pristine condition when we moved in.
It was really tempting to splurge on an electric laundry rack, but we do get plenty of sunlight in the service yard, so that’s one expense happily saved!
As you can probably tell, our service yard had no renovation work done, and even the tiles are the original ones from HDB, a practical choice to help us save on costs.
While it’s functional and works just fine, there are times we wish we had splurged a little more for those pretty tiles to accompany us while doing the laundry.
