Sofa Shortlist #1
Loft Home: Budget friendly options, has a showroom and decent designs. Was really liking the Teddy marenco inspired sofa and the beige brown look despite the seat comfort being on the lower end, but ultimately dropped it when we saw similar ones on Taobao at a fraction of the price. Though we really liked the brown shades and it was on the smaller size end (just what we were looking for), the material and quality was abit lacking based on that price point.
Sofa Shortlist #2
Castlery: Pretty and comfortable, some features are customisable as well but to a certain extent. Most of them are however, abit on the larger size range and mostly too white in colour for our liking. Price ranges from manageable to slightly on the steeper end, but it wasn’t ticking all the boxes for us.
Sofa Shortlist #3
Homiest Living JB: Honestly walked in to purely browse, we weren’t even listening to a word from the sales guy. We simply chanced upon this warm, velvet looking orange 3-seater; sat on it and were halfway sold. I really liked the burnt orange furniture aesthetic, and this was somewhat close. Almost everything is customisable, from the layout, size, motorised option, colour, fabric at S$960 (all inclusive). This just became our sofa!
One-seater Shortlist #1-3
Loft Home / Comfort Design / Taobao: Found 2 similar ones at both Loft Home and Comfort Design at very similar costs as well, despite the former really lacking in quality and comfort. Was reluctant to spend $400-500 on a lounger, and I ultimately bought one from Taobao though it is a different design (to better match our sofa height!). Our selected design was $260 and quality definitely feels decent.
Dining Table Shortlist #1-2
Castlery: Decent range of scandi options, just not entirely budget friendly probably due to the materials used. We didn’t end up liking any of it cos we aren’t scandi fans personally.
Comfort Design: Didn’t manage to shortlist any dining tables for unknown forgotten reasons, but they did have some good chair options!
Dining Table Shortlist #3-4
Loft Home: Went looking for this as I was considering this design, but again I later saw this on Taobao. This was a heavy contender as I initially didn’t want to purchase extreme bulky furniture from Taobao, but the colour they had was not making the cut!
Ruma Home JB: Their dining sets are extremely cheap, which is abit sus quality wise and slightly lacking in terms of design. It was something I would keep as a backup option but not my top choice.
Dining Table Shortlist #5
Taobao: Didn’t like any of the dining sets from most stores we visited, so we ended up with the Taobao option. They were not a set and separate items from different sellers, but thankfully it all worked out.
Dining Table: $430
Chairs: $250 (design 1) + $90 (design 2)
Bed frame Shortlist #1-2
Castlery: Really keen in this design but not 100% onboard due to the colour. It was a really cool grey which wasn’t what I had in mind. Price seems manageable overall.
Comfort Design: Another design I was quite invested in based on colour, height and storage features, but I did find the real life frame in store not what I expected from viewing online.
Bed frame Shortlist #3-4
Scanteak: Wooden frames were second in consideration, and this one from Scanteak was looking good. Quite liked the frame but not the price 🤣
BedandBasics: They have some good wooden options, price point is decent but didn’t appeal to us as much as others.
Bed frame Shortlist #5
Homiest Living: Again, really didn’t expect to like their stuffs at all at first look. But with the customisable features and price point, it’s quite a balance of what you’re getting—ended up going with this, with storage drawers, customised fabric and colour. Bedframe + mattress package was S$950 (all inclusive).
Bonus: Bathroom Vanity Cabinet
Chanced upon an aluminium vanity cabinet set during our furniture sourcing trips, though the designs were a$$ it was one of the features we were quite fixated on. Ultimately found a set from Taobao which was in similar stainless steel material (though realistically I don’t think it’s a 100% pure stainless steel, given this was from China), but was good enough given this entire set was $380.
