How we saved $1.5k on our lime washed walls 👩🏻🎨👨🏻🎨

We like the look of lime washed walls and how they add texture and character to our wabi-sabi inspired minimal home. It doesn’t come cheap though! Our ID quoted us $1.8k+ for our 5 metre wall :( 
I did a quick search and found many videos of people doing it themselves on YouTube! It looks manageable even for beginners and is a very forgiving medium as lime paint is known to give an uneven look. If we really didn’t like the outcome, we could easily repaint the wall. And so we decided to do it ourselves! It’s also the biggest DIY project we’ve done as a couple so it’s extra meaningful ❤️ 
We arranged for a meeting at Aretamete with our ID and she helped us choose the colours. We wanted something that was a good mix of beige and grey for a warm cosy vibe. So Aretamete suggested mixing 2 different colours and we went with Palladio and Sabbia Secco. 
We took about 30 minutes to paint the first coat, when out for brunch and came back to paint the second coat. All done in half a day! Our legs were aching from all the squats so we were glad to have arranged a massage session for the following day! 
All in all, we were very satisfied with the outcome and our walls make very good photo-taking backdrops! 10/10 would recommend this DIY! We still had so much leftover lime paint and managed to paint the smaller wall next to the 5m wall, which would have costed us few hundred bucks more! 💰 Price: slightly under $400 for all materials and tools (We even got their expensive brushes!)
