How To: Limewash Paint DIY 👩🏻🎨🧑🏻🎨

Hi there 👋🏻 we are J&J behind @jjhomestories and we’re back for Season 10! On top of sharing corners of our home (you can browse previous posts), we will deep dive into design inspirations and renovation processes such as our limewash DIY. So if you’re thinking to do some DIY yourself, strap up & let’s paint along~ 
After doing some research on limewash paint (back in 2022) and hearing our ID’s quote, we decided to have a little fun DIY ourselves! We visited Aratamete Home as they have Kalklitir Limewash Paint 🎨 
I love all the paint swatches & had a tough time deciding! Tip: Check their website on the swatches & decide on a few colours before visiting the store to reduce decision fatigue 🫶🏻🤣 
Here’s the down low. Do note these are prices from 2022/2023! Just did a check on their website & it remained the same I’m shocked 😳 anyway, another tip would be to get their sample bags (10g) at $5 to test on walls if you’re really unsure! 
Here’s the recipe! Mix powder & water 💦 ready for an arm workout? 💪🏻 Tip: Prepare dropsheets on the floor, tape to line the areas you want to paint, paintbrushes, wet wipes, bucket and mixing/measuring tools! 
At this point, there’s no turning back 🤣💪🏻 
Mix till it’s smooth & liquidy like paint! Tip: Compared to two years ago, there are liquid limewash paints in the market more readily available now so get that to avoid the mixing process 🫶🏻 
We are painting the MDR board & door covering our bomb shelter! We have a 60cm length niche on the right side as well. I love that we did a little fun project for our future home that we get to admire every single day 🏠 
The trick was to paint in X strokes. We did two layers over two half-days!

How it looks when it was wet! We were freaking out and wondering how it will clump up and turn out. 
However, after a day of drying, it really looked okay. I mean I love the wabi sabi vibes it gives so just don’t fret too much over it! 
You can possibly add more layers too!
