One thing we splurged on in our house reno is incorporating arches/ curves around the house! In total, it was about $6-7k for more than 10 arches (some more arch-y than the rest haha), and no regrets! 
Look at all the pipes and wires the plumber and electrician have to pull to make this work, it's really not an easy feat! 
This is how it looks after installing our carpentry, lights and electrical appliances. We are really glad that our ID did up the arch niche so nicely (we've seen some reno fails and the arch shape looks odd)! 
The other arch that we've constructed is the entryway to our master bedroom (which we've knocked down a wall to combine our rooms). This design costed us close to another $3k, also because we opted for pattern tiles (with border) and fluted glass panels (scroll down)! 
These arches tend to cost more because of the additional labour required. For our door, the arch niche first needs to be up, followed by the installation of the back frames, then the installation of the fluted glass. These steps can only be done one after another to make sure that the measurements are prefect. 
As we intended for the arch door to be one of the key features of our home, we chose white doors for the rest of the home to make them less "visible". We also went with peranakan-like pattern tiles with black borders to match the black frame of the arch door (this comes at some extra cost because of the additional labour but it was not too significant). 
Now moving on to our furnishings with arches or curves! We can't really afford constructing so many arches in our home, so we try to incorporate curves through our choice of furnishings. For example, our lamps, chairs, and even our cabinet knobs all tend to have round edges, to make our home looks more curvy (at a low cost!) 
We painted an arch over our bombshelter door - our ID did it for us without charging any additional costs, beyond the original painting cost in our quote. 
To add on to the painted arch, we also added an arch shaped full length mirror beside it. Through the mirror reflection, you can also see the arch door and arch shape like dining chairs. 
Even the picture frames in our living room have curves in them!
