Simple, clean and airy space.
We moved from a >1200 sq ft old condo to 1001 sq ft newer condo after more than 15 years.
Imagine the amount of stuff we have to let go and storage we need to build to minimize lifestyle changes.
Take a look at how and what we did, and hopefully it helps to give you some useful inspirations.❤️
Bombshelter along the entryway, toned down by painting a close colour to the walls.
Full height shoe cabinet in a simple yet practical design.
One of the lessons we learnt in our old place was the lack of storage for our shoes.
We had a half shoe cabinet built in and still, it’s not enough.
So for our new home, we decided to do a full height one, so the top storage are for occasional shoes and shoe boxes.
Opened a space below for daily worn footwear for convenience.
Wet and Dry kitchen carved out from the limited space making it practical yet open for natural light to shine in.
Dry kitchen island provides extra storage for items kept away from heat and steam.
For example, tea and coffee, snacks and biscuits, cutlery and mugs etc.
Island countertop is also for water dispenser and coffee machine.
Though we cook daily, we use minimal cooking appliances.
Rice cooker (hidden in the island), a Combi Oven cum Airfryer, induction hob and a Microwave were all we need.
This keeps the kitchen top neat and free for food preparation.
A good recliner sofa and a matching massage chair sets the mood for movie nights and family time.
We liked this coffee table from for its 4 storage drawers and solid structure which promises years of good use.
Our Ogawa massage chair fit well into the space that was pre planned.
Ogawa has a good trade in program and this is our third piece since our 1st one more than 15 yrs ago. We arranged for collection of the old chair before we moved and delivery of the new one after we moved in.#timing
Lastly, our best ROI furniture must be our leather electric recliner sofa from #Comfy.
After much scouting around, we decided on this model and selected the leather colour we wanted which needed 2 months for production. ❤️ it!
We fell in love ❤️ with this airy balcony view when we first viewed this apartment during house hunting.
Imagining ourselves sitting here to enjoy the breeze over dinner or a cup of tea before we even moved in!😄
Now, it’s become our dining cum laundry area.
The balcony comes with fins which can be closed and yet allows breeze in. Saves us bucks from Ziptrack!🤭
We grew to love them cos they allow breeze to enter when closed while shielding us from the sun and rain.
Our extendable table is also from Comfy.
We chose a sintered stone top for practicality and match with the rest of our reno.
Dining chairs were from Taobao, just like all the rest of the chairs in the house, as the price is too much difference while the quality is as good! #taobaomustbuy
A room designed for a growing teen.
-Adjustable table with flexible height.
-Ergonomic chair for spinal health
-Spacious storage for books and toys.
IKEA’s Billy bookcase has customisation that fits our needs well. It allows our kid to display his toys while keeping his books out of sight to avoid looking messy.
Our TT Racing adjustable table cost <$300 when we ordered during 11.11 sale and arranged for late delivery. Price was good except that it was self assembly that is quite challenging. Even a DIY guy we engaged took few hours to fix it up so our advice is not to try if you ain’t savvy.
And of course, more storage for his favorite things.
Apart from books and toys, kids also have stationery, small knick knacks and items that require storage.
So we ordered this chest of drawers from Taobao that fit exactly and useful to store all the small items and place his night light.
Anti slip tiles and also opted out of glass shower door for easier maintenance of one less piece of glass🤭.
Colour tone of the common bathroom matches the rest of the house, mainly used by kiddo and ocassional guests.
A good mattress and storage frame were the must have in our list which is part of the top 3 investment pieces after our sofa.
Good quality will last for years.
We also decided to do our curtains locally after much sourcing and found a comparable quality supplier. Highly recommended to check them out!
Due to space constraint, this dresser with side table combo fits best and double up as a work desk too.
The recess wall was also recreated into a display area for our Murakami puzzled fixed up with kiddo to remind us of daily cheer. Measurements had to align with our furniture.
Earthy tone sets a calm and relaxing surrounding in our Master Bathroom to focus on one self for me- time.
Lots of storage for our stash of skincare and toiletries.
Due to the humidity, we don’t store makeup in the bathroom and ensure that the window is always open after we shower to let the moisture out in the day.
