Here’s our review of our major home appliances after 6 months, what we highly recommend + how we got them for cheaper than retail prices! Starting off with our 65” Samsung Frame TV, we were initially hesitant to trade a high res QLED/OLED screen for a matte screen. But on hindsight, we can’t recommend it enough! A big plus of the Frame TV, aside from being 100% aesthetically pleasing, is that the matte screen doesn’t reflect much light (sunlight or living room lights), so our TV watching experience is a really pleasant one. We got our Frame TV from Courts as a display piece for $1899 (RTP: ~$3000). Display pieces are a great option because they are significantly cheaper and more often than not are almost in mint condition, while also coming with warranty 👍🏼

Next, moving on to the kitchen — the area with most of our appliances! We got all of the following appliances from Parisilk, a local family-owned electronics retailer. Why we went with Parisilk: - Trusted store that my family has been purchasing from for years - Wholesale price points that are generally significantly cheaper than large retailers across the board - Great customer service (in our experience), fast follow-up on queries and smooth (& free) delivery included - Don’t have to go through the hassle of calculating all the vouchers and stacking discounts (like at Audiohouse) * DM us on IG @dinkdongs for our recommended sales associate’s contact from Parisilk * Our 90cm Bertazzoni chimney is a rudimentary but classic hood. We love the simple design and it has served its function well so no complains! [Model: KPL90PLAG1XA; Paid $779] For our induction hob, we went with a 75cm Brandt one after considering other brands. Brandt was recommended by our Parisilk sales associate, as the price point is quite reasonable for the generous size. We went with a two-stove hob which met our everyday needs. The hob heats up quickly, is easy to maintain and clean! [Model: BPI272UBL; Paid $1049]

Our favourite purchase!! Hitachi French Door Fridge 569L was the best choice we made for our kitchen. Super generous space (four doors!) and many compartments, but most importantly an automatic ice maker which was our no. 1 requirement for a fridge. Also went with Hitachi bcos Japanese brands are top! [Model: R-WB640V0MS-GS; Paid: $2329]

10.5kg Samsung Washer + Dryer (left hand side) and 9kg Dryer (right hand side) Originally, we wanted a separate washer and dryer, but bcos we ordered a washer-only model that was discontinued between the time we ordered it and it was due for delivery, Parisilk upgraded our washer to a washer-dryer for FREE! Love that we have the option to do two loads at a time (first load - wash and move to separate dryer, second load - wash & dry in same machine). We also like the AI control function that syncs up with our Samsung Smart Things app and informs us as a phone notif when our wash/dry cycles are done - super convenient! [Washer/Dryer Model: WD10T784DBX/SP (4 TICKS); Dryer Model: DV90T8240SX/SP; Paid total: $3088]

We chose Bestar Ceiling Fans as they were the most simple, sleek yet traditional looking designs with homogenous coloured hardware (full-black). This model we went with also have light and no-light options, as well as different sizes (54” & 46”). There are also really cool features like reverse spin, tri-colour option for fan lights, good range of speed (1-6), timer options, and more. Another no frills and solid brand! Living room - Razor 54” no light; Paid $178 Wardrobe and study rooms - Razor 46” with light; $178 Bedroom - Razor 46” no light (we had installed down lights on the ceiling); also $178

A personal favourite is the kitchen corner fan from Bestar. This one needs no introduction. But trust us when we say it’s small but mighty, a must have for all kitchens with low ventilation. I definitely think it’s strong enough to blow throughout an entire room too! Bestar Hagar (Black body, Wood blade); Paid $158

A blind spot we had in terms of fans was the dining area so we supplemented it with a standing fan. We loveeee this mistral standing fan that is sleek, aesthetic, while also user friendly with a remote control with a touch feature base. It produces really strong winds and has a wide range of speeds (1-12 speed). [Model: Mistral MHV1412R-G Remote DC High Velocity Stand Fan 12 Inch; Can’t rmb how much we paid but was between $150-170 iirc]

A sleek looking, fast-heating storage heater is the well-regarded brand Ariston. Again, no issues so far with the heater and also the boxy look allows it to fit nicely above the toilet door. We got a 30L one which on hindsight is abit overkill for two persons, but we noticed that it is also able to retain leftover heated water overnight without the heater being on, so that’s a plus! [Model: Ariston Slim Storage Water Heater 30L SL-30; Paid: $345]
