When renovating our home, one space we paid close attention to was the service yard. While it’s a highly functional area, it’s also where unsightly elements like the water storage tank, exposed pipes, and valves are often unavoidable. Instead of leaving them visible, we decided to conceal everything neatly using custom carpentry, without compromising accessibility or ventilation.
Initially, we considered just leaving them exposed to save on costs, but even though the service yard isn’t a space guests usually see, we believe every part of the home should feel considered. With the tank and pipes concealed, the service yard now feels more organised and pleasant to use—especially during daily chores like laundry or cleaning.
We requested for ventilation gaps at the top area for the storage tank to prevent overheating and allow proper airflow.

Concealing the water storage tank and pipes using carpentry was a small decision that made a big difference. It transformed our service yard from a purely functional area into a space that feels aligned with the rest of our home’s design—clean, intentional, and thoughtfully executed.
Sometimes, it’s the hidden details that elevate a renovation the most.
