The Doubt: 🤨
Let’s be honest: when I first saw smart locks promoting Ultra-Wideband (UWB) hands-free unlocking, I thought it was peak first-world-problem laziness.
Why pay good money for a lock when I can easily type a password or scan a fingerprint? It felt completely unnecessary.
But being a self-proclaimed lazy person who just wanted to breeze into my house without fumbling for anything, I pulled the trigger on the Aqara U400 Smart Lock.
The Turning Point: 🛠️😅
I almost regretted it immediately. The setup was a total nightmare. It took me a full week of troubleshooting, tweaking my internet router settings, and handling endless "hit-and-miss" moments where it flat-out refused to acknowledge I was standing outside.
I had to resort to the fingerprint scanner multiple times. But I refused to let the tech beat me.
After weeks of refining the settings and getting the network right... it finally happened.
I walked up to my gate with my hands completely full, and the lock clicked open by itself before I even reached for the handle.
