Revealing our common bathroom, inspired by the ocean! 🌊
This was the last room we designed as we didn’t quite know what vibe we wanted to go for, but knew that we wanted some colour to be involved. Our initial design that was very playful and colourful didn’t quite match the rest of the house, and so we only came back to the designing much later after many trips to the tile shops and inspiration hit! 💡
These are the tiles that we used!
White Horse Ceramics
CVC75326G _(dark blue tile - common toilet)_
CVC75323G _(light blue tile - common toilet)_
H63134 _(wall tile - common toilet)_
CH6642M* _(floor tile - common & master toilet)_
Soon Bee Huat
HT-Himalays Katmandu _(wall tile - common toilet)_
We had seen the Himalays Katmandu (wave looking tiles) first and thought that it was really pretty but didn’t know how it would work out, so just snapped a pic and walked away looking for other options and ideas.
Then one day, we were getting our toilet accessories and chanced upon White Horse Ceramics which was just a minutes walk away. When we opened the front door, the dark and light blue tiles were right at the entrance, and it was love at first sight! That’s when we knew those were the tiles we wanted to use!
After finding those tiles, D knew that they would match so perfectly with the ocean looking ones, and went home and started sketching out the design on her iPad and sent it over to our ID.
And here is the outcome! The floor tiles mimic look of sand on the beach 🏝️ We love how it feels somewhat resort-like, and is also a fun play on colours and tiles, without being too over the top
We specifically chose to use these tiles in the shower zone, so that it would look and feel almost like you’re in the ocean or that you’re showering in a waterfall
We kept the rest of the fittings quite simple, with wood tones and bronze accents to match the beach vibe and bring in other elements of the home. We also like the toilet paper holder cause we can put our phones there 🙊
We also chose to go with white French doors because:
1. We wanted to have the doors open fully without compromising on use of space like when washing hands or having to walk around because the turning radius of the door.
2. D’s family home also used French wooden doors for their bathroom and she really liked it and wanted to incorporate it into our home too
Another nice design touch is that our master bathroom doors are matching, except that we kept it natural wood colour rather than painting it white.
