This time, we’re sharing a little something about our teen daughter.
One of the main reasons we decided to move from our 4-room HDB to a 5-room unit was to give both of our kids the space they need — not just to sleep or study, but to really have a room that reflects who they are.
As they grow older, having a personal space becomes more than just a luxury — it’s how they unwind, create, and discover their own identity.
For our daughter, that meant a room that isn’t too “kiddy,” but still cozy, inspiring, and a little bit her — complete with her keyboard, guitar, and all the things that feed her love for music.
Giving her a space where she can grow, express, and just be herself...
That’s the kind of home we wanted to build.
Music plays a big role in her life — she loves having her guitar and keyboard within reach, and during quiet nights, she winds down by turning on her colour projector night light.
It fills the room with soft, dreamy hues — a little night-time ritual that makes the space feel calming and🛏️
We went with a queen-size bed for her room — roomy enough for her, and just right for when her friends stay over. entirely hers.
And while she’s growing up, she still treasures her soft toys — and we made sure there’s plenty of storage to keep them neatly tucked away (or on display when she wants).
And here’s one of our favourite features: behind the fluted panel, she now has a tucked-away area where she keeps her personal collection — little things that matter to her, stored neatly but always within reach.
It’s functional, minimal, and adds just the right touch of personality to the room
🎸 Her guitar and ukulele rest right on her platform bed, always within arm’s reach — especially since she loves to play them quietly at night.
📦 And yes, we know girls always have a little extra... so we built storage below the platform bed for her bedsheets, seasonal items, and all those “just in case” things.
🪞 We also included a display shelf — where she proudly showcases her favourite idols, small collections, and bits of her personality that she wants to share.
