Living in a 4-room HDB means every bit of space counts, especially when it comes to wardrobes.
One important thing about wardrobe planning is knowing what you actually need to store. I started by categorising my clothes into simple groups: tops, bottoms, midi/maxi dresses, sportswear, pajamas and undergarments.
From there, I thought about what truly needed to be hung up – for me, it was the pieces I didn’t want to fold after ironing – mostly dresses and certain tops.
I used Canva for planning and it honestly gave me a lot more clarity. Drawing the actual layout is fine as well, whatever works for you honestly.
Of course, my wardrobe size naturally set some limits. I couldn’t go all out with compartments, but in a way, that helped me stay intentional (or at least, I try). I kept only what fits comfortably and avoided overcomplicating the layout.
Here’s what my wardrobe eventually looks like.
The shelves were used to store more miscellaneous things and I used Muji boxes to store them so that it’s easier for me to pull it out and see everything at a glance.
If you have a bigger wardrobe, you can definitely explore more sections or categories. But if your space is similar to mine, keeping things simple might actually feel more calming.
At the end of the day, it’s less about having a perfect wardrobe and more about creating a flow that feels just right for you.
