Welcome to @ourcosy.abode’s entryway! We don’t have an ‘entryway’ per se inside our house since it’s rather small, so we will share more on how we style the entrance of our home! First up, we installed a digital gate/ door lock with doorbell & camera for convenience and to enhance security. 📷 No more fumbling around for keys! 🔑 Added some plants on top of the shoe cabinet, for a touch of greenery to the otherwise monochrome setup. The bigger faux plant 🪴 also helps to cover HDB's original door bell button 🔔 that’s not in use (can't see the doorbell from the picture right?) Said door bell that is not in use. Since our gate provided by HDB is in black, we went with the monochromatic look, a totally different vibe from our brown/ beige/ white interior! 😆 The floor has interlocking black tiles leading to a green rug to mimic a ‘grass patch’, which adds a pop of color. A small black stool is tucked beside the cabinet, providing a practical element without cluttering the space. Managed to get a shoe rack that fits perfectly between our gate and the door. Also added an auto drop door seal (installed on the outside of our main door) to prevent creepy crawlies from entering. 🦎🕷️ 🐜 Still planning to spruce the area by installing door knobs on the shoe cabinet, maybe some pebbles on the floor? We shall see…. 🤔 This is the view before leaving the home! We kept this area as minimalistic as possible. No hooks/ decorative plant element etc for now as we don't want to visually clutter the place. We only installed a full length mirror so we can check ourselves out before leaving. It’s thin enough that our main door will not hit the mirror when it's positioned at 90 degree angle. We also installed a door closer with adjustable tension and latch speed to prevent slamming of doors. No need for a door stopper! The Mrs is also thinking of switching up the colour of the main door 🚪, but undecided on what colour would be best. White? Dark brown? Light grey? Hmm. 🤔 The Mrs has a hard time deciding as usual, so the door shall stay in its original state for now (Mr likes it this way)! 😂 Just beside the mirror is our DB box. In the reflection, you can see that beside the main door is actually our bomb shelter. We did not conceal it due to space constraints, as additionally carpentry would not just mean extra $$, but also eating up more space in our dining area which wasn't practical. However, the Mrs is still figuring out what we can do to decorate the bomb shelter, but also don’t want to clutter the space either. 💭 🤔 Currently, we place our to do list there! 😂 A peek into our DB box... 👀 We try to make sure that everything we own has its own "house" so that our place can be as neat and tidy as possible, and we won't get stressed and overwhelmed by the clutter! The upper cabinet houses random nick nacks like tissue papers, umbrella, lotion so we can just grab and go! We also got a small cabinet in black with 25 compartments that we use to store medication and other smaller stuff. The lower cabinet are shoes that belong to the Mrs (top most are bedroom slippers for our parents)! 👣 Wooden planks are installed by our ID by using the excess carpentry. We also got a shoe rack organiser, so yay to more storage space! That is all for our entryway, any ideas are welcomed! Till the next post! :)
