My husband and I both started being crazy plant parents from the very beginning when we just met. We kind of grew our passion and hobby together throughout these years. It all began with a succulent, and then it grew into houseplants.

I get that this space could feel really chaotic for plant owners with minimal plants, but it's also the only place we could place our plants to live their fullest potential because one of our cats is a daredevil who would jump around everywhere destroying things along the way, the other cat loves plants and would dig the soil and nibble onto the leaves. So, we really have no option πŸ˜… We do have some plants in our master bedroom which we keep locked away from the cats, but they're not thriving as well as our plants in the balcony.

Due to personal privacy, I can't show the entire space in daytime, but it looks really glorious bathing under the morning sun.

This huge plant on the left has been with us for years since it was a little baby. We bought it at a plant shop near our rental we used to stay at and it does bring a sense of nostalgia for a piece that came from a place we once called home for 2 years.

Because of the sheer number of plants we have, it took me a long time to figure out a better way to organise the plants in the balcony. I just knew I had to go vertical in terms of space. I first found this extendable plant rack on Shopee but then decided to purchase it on Taobao because it is a lot cheaper there. I purchased three of these from Taobao and the cost of them all is more or less about the same price if as if I were to purchase it from Shopee. A big difference!

Here's another one on the other corner. As I don't have any blinds or grilles on my balcony, I am conscious of the type of plant/pot I place on the higher racks. I try to make sure that they're not too light as the winds here could get quite strong.

And this is our third rack right at the corner. We have also recently installed a solar powered drip irrigation system for some of our more sensitive plants that requires more water. This was really helpful when we travelled recently and didn't have to worry about the plants.

Here's one of the drips that we had that holds our tomato plant.

The said tomato plant with the baby tomatoes 😊 With all that said, our balcony is still a work in progress and we do intend to eventually retire the bigger pots on the floors so that we have more floor space and it would make it much easier to wash the floors. But for now, I am happy with how my balcony garden is looking right now :)
