We have got an arched sintered stone dining table to complement the curved elements in our home. Under the ceiling beam, we installed two boba lights, which we usually switch on during dinner to create a cozy atmosphere. We decided not to go with a ceiling pendant light because we have a ceiling fan and the airflow would cause it to sway. It would also look visually heavy since there is already quite a lot going on at the top.
Fun fact: Our first ever home purchase was actually the 4 dining chairs from JB back in 2024 HAHA 😅 At that time we were not very familiar with buying big items from Taobao yet, so we got them at about ~SGD150. They are very heavy and in fabric material too, just like our sofa!
One random reason why I actually like those chairs… there is a hole in the middle of the backrest so any hair I drop just fall through the hole instead of getting trapped🤣 small detail but lowkey life saver HAHAHA
Now we are fully converts to Taobao peeps already 😆 we have bought so many Taobao items that are super worth it and we are never turning back. Will share more in another series!!! 🤍
Also, a small tip for anyone planning: when we went JB again to hunt for our sofa and table, we were told that buying them together as a set can actually be cheaper 👀 so try to get your dining table and chairs together if possible!
The boba lights can be adjusted in colour through an app via bluetooth, which makes it really convenient to set different moods depending on the occasion!
We also added extra switches below the lights so we can easily plug in a steamboat or other appliances when hosting.
Onto our little coffee station! This is my husband’s fav corner, where he makes two cups of latte every morning. We are really happy with Nexen’s power track because it eliminates the need for the usual double sockets and conveniently provides more than 2 sockets which we currently need. The pink Sakura colour of the track and white sockets blends nicely with our white coffee counter setup. We can also add more sockets whenever required. We highly recommend adding power tracks to your dry pantry or kitchen, they make a huge difference for convenience!
You will notice we have 6 drawers. We had to pay extra for drawers, as the original quotation only included 3. If you are planning to add more drawers, do expect the cost to increase. But we really love having more drawers, so we were okay with it. We added two floating shelves above, which are great for storing our coffee beans cups and some decor pieces we already had. We are still not sure what to place on the top shelves, so we are leaving them empty for now and will slowly fill them with items that resonate with us over time~
Quite a few of our guests have also commented that this is their favourite corner of the house, especially since it is one of the first things you see when you enter the house~
The story behind our design continues in the next post!
