Our kitchen sink is more than just a functional spot — it’s the heart of our kitchen, and we put a lot of thought into designing it for everyday use.
Here are some of the key features we chose, which we have found really useful after living in our home for a year.
We opted for a 70cm single bowl that’s extra deep and spacious enough for pots and pans. This is perfect for us since we cook often and usually end up with lots to wash.
We didn’t go for a sink with dividers because that would feel too restrictive. Instead, we added a small drying basket that can be moved around whenever needed
We chose undermount installation for that sleek and seamless look while simplifying cleaning.
While this will mean that it is be harder to replace our sinks in the future, we don't think this would be an issue since most people do not replace their sinks frequently anyway. (In our parents home, the kitchen sinks have been used more than 20 years!)
A scratch proof surface was important to us and this honeycomb design solves the problem!
We asked our contractor to install the tap facing the front rather than the side.
Simple reason — less water from wet hands splashing all over the countertop
Of course, an extendable tap is essential to reach all corners of the sink and extremely helpful in washing large pots and pans.
Before carpentry started, we opted for concrete support beneath the sink given that we anticipated frequent cooking and heavy daily use.
It was an extra cost, but worth every $$. Our wooden carpentry is well-protected, and it gives us peace of mind.
