as a designer, i’m a visual creature — i need to see things before i can decide.
these free platforms helped me so much in the pre-reno phase and gave us a clearer idea of what we wanted even before looping in our interior designer!
1️⃣ Figma – for moodboarding, brainstorming, and annotating ideas together. as a UX designer, this is my staple tool that can do me no wrong 🤪
2️⃣ Rayon.Design – great for low-fi space planning. we used it to test layouts in 2d before going 3d — super intuitive.
3️⃣ Coohom – for higher-fi 3D modelling. a dummy’s version of sketchup, but surprisingly powerful for visualising materials and colours!
4️⃣ ChatGPT & Gemini – for exploring quick “what if” scenarios — colour schemes, lighting ideas, or layout tweaks without waiting for the drafter. these tools helped us turn our ideas into visuals we could actually react to, saving so much back-and-forth later with our ID.
lmk if you'd like more info on any of these tools! ✨
