Sharing a little journal of our pre-reno journey so far 📝
11 Aug – 1st BSC appointment
Highlighted all our BTO defects to the BSC team.
11–28 Aug – Rectification period
Standard 14 working days for BSC to rectify the defects. (They emailed us on 24 Aug to say it was done, but we totally missed it 😅).
1 Sep – 2nd BSC appointment
We went down to review the fixes. Some defects were still there, so they called in 8 workers to try fixing it on the same day. We couldn’t stay the whole day, so we booked another date to review the rectifications.
6 Sep – 3rd BSC appointment
80% fixed by then! We decided to take the “close one eye” approach so our reno wouldn’t be delayed further. Finally signed off with BSC, and that wrapped up our defects check process. 😮💨
Takeaway:
The BSC journey can take anywhere from 2–4 weeks (or more). Don’t start reno until this stage is settled!
💡 Tip: BSC will generally still fix functional defects within 1 yr from key collection, but not aesthetic ones after your reno.
If you’ve just collected your keys:
✅ Book your 1st BSC appointment early
✅ If you’re hiring a defects checker, lock them in early
✅ Manage your expectations!
