Why settle for plain if you can have it in colours! Being homeowners with design preference towards dopamine decor, we love to furnish our space with the things that we love and things that makes us happy. Often or not, we will buy back furnishings and decoration items first before we start deciding where to place then and how to fit into our space. If TV console is one area that you been wanting to add some decoration, maybe you can follow these 2 placements to see if it works for you. a) Middle only b) All three zones (like the picture) if both doesn't work for you, place them in whichever position that works for you guys! 
Other than home furnishing, you can also introduce greenery which will elevate the whole space and vibe. We bought our monstera during a fair 1 month ago and hope they could survive without our green fingers.:) 
This is the view of the greenery beside our TV console when we look from our sofa. 
Decorating is not complicated, importantly is that they should makes your happy by seeing them. Start decorating!
