Work in progress and hopeful future inspiration for mid-century modern homes lovers!
For today's post, I've curated a bunch of MCM homes which I found on Communa and what I like about them! Stay to the very end for bonus two very special and beautiful homes!!
Through this tedious process, I found myself asking a very serious question: what makes a home mid-century modern? Is it the use of a furniture? But a single Eames lounge chair in a modern lux home doesn't make it MCM. Neither does having a Louis Poulsen PH5 lamp alone makes it MCM too.
With my future home, my partner and I did not want to be "tied down" to a particular design too. But what we found design to be pleasing and lasting tend to be furnitures from the mid-century period.
Just a couple of loose furnitures doesn't make a space. But the overall concept should abide to a couple of principles that make up mid-century modern.
By aligning the thousands of decisions to a single concept, we can then create a coherent and beautiful design in the end.
First up is the kitchen from Made Of Pebbles. What I like about their kitchen is the daring and intentional choice to go with what might be considered most people's renovation regrets: open shelving, tiled backsplash and stainless steel countertop.

The dining room from Still Tape is simple with clean lines and warmth. I like the use of the modular shelving unit, wood furnitures and Louis Poulsen lamp!

The living room from Hauson 13th is a delight! The use of lamp throughout its spaces, and intentional furnishing from top to bottom is something to learn from! Interior design doesn't just end with furnitures on the floor!
What I like: String pocket shelving system, lots of lamps (Panthella 160 Portable table lamp)

The next home is from Moment To Hold. Simple design allows the furnitures to speak for themselves!
What I like: Danish vintage furnitures, mini art gallery and iconic Verner Panton's Flowerpot

The last home I wanted to share is from Street Sixty One.
What I like about this place is the open living, dining and kitchen concept. And look at the beautiful sunset rays through the venetian blinds.

The furnitures here probably cost more than my entire house renovation. This home from Kohlony is my local inspiration for mid-century modern.
Besides the iconic and vintage furnitures, the owner also inject a touch of their own with their collectibles.

Every dream furniture in a photo. Enough said.
Check out https://www.instagram.com/hausbyg/ for his beautifully and intentionally designed loft; stayed for his equally cinematic vlogs.
