Sharing Part 2 of renders - here’s a first look into the 3D renders of our master bedroom!! 🛌 We initially chose the same laminate colors as our kitchen, but ended up seeing another laminate color at EDL that caught our eye. So we made a last minute switch to that - can’t wait to see the results!
Here are some considerations we had when deciding the layout of our bedroom:
1️⃣ Wardrobe carpentry
We did a full height L-shaped wardrobe as there is not enough space to do a full panel wardrobe in front of the bed. Also consulted our main con on this, but he too advised that walking space may be very tight - we didn’t want to squeeze every time we walked past so settled with a L-shaped one instead!
Total length of our wardrobe is around 3.3m, with a bedside niche to charge our phones before bed, put miscellaneous items etc. This wardrobe costed us $3,080 to custom make and build (as part of our quotation) - we decided it was worth it as we wanted it to be a floor to ceiling one so we didn’t have to clean the top of the wardrobe.
2️⃣ Any vanity table?
We thought of extending the cabinet carpentry to do a built-in vanity table (aka cabinet will be a U-shape instead of a L shape). However, our main con advised against it as he noted if we have kids next time, that will be a useful space to place the baby cot - which was a good point we didn’t think of!
Instead, we will just buy a small vanity table to place opposite the wardrobe, so we have the flexibility to move things around next time!
3️⃣ Size of bed?
We initially decided on a queen size bed - but after hearing the feedback of the friends and colleagues around us, we decided to switch to king instead!
Why queen? We felt that it was sufficient space for us and we didn’t face any issues. Also it’ll allow the wardrobe to be a little longer! However, our friends and colleagues kept telling us to get a king size bed to future proof for family planning - there may be times your child may have to sleep with you and in that case, a queen will be really squeezy for 2 adults + 1 kid. After much consideration, we caved and decided to go for a king instead! Are you team queen or king bed?
